Capital investment in school buildings is vital if the UK is to deliver a world-class standard of education for all. We need to create environments that inspire and support both teachers and pupils, that drive innovation, and that deliver personalised learning.

Schools look to their LEA to support their application for funding and to provide the important project management support during construction. With an increasing number of  services being caught by these initiatives from ICT provision to catering, the LEA’s advice on the initial contract and thereafter the relationship management of the contractor is vital.

BSF brings with it increased challenges for the LEA with a need to identify an ‘Education Vision’ for the whole of its school estate and then to translate this vision to the physical world of buildings and ICT infrastructure. This will mean increased involvement of all parties in the local community including pupils, parents, teachers, business, etc.

Cocentra has substantial experience gain in the PFI programmes to date and has been involved in the work to date on the 1st Wave of BSF.
