Courses and Conferences

Schools should be dynamic learning environments for all those who work in them. The emphasis on learning and development is particularly critical at times of rapid change and innovation. We believe schools look for:

  • Focused, practical approaches to the communication of topical and perennial issues.
  • Interactive learning environments maximising learning potential and opportunity for participant engagement.
  • Input from experienced practitioners with opportunities to challenge and debate.
  • Ideas for follow-up and re-enforcement in the workplace.

Cocentra approach:

Is to provide services that support staff continuing professional development and learning include:

  • A programme of national and regional courses and conferences for school staff
  • Cocentra national and regional courses and conferences being adapted to meet the needs of individual or groups of LEAs or schools and delivered “in-house” at a venue of your choice
  • Courses being developed in a “bespoke” fashion to meet the precise and explicit needs of the LEA or its schools.

View details of some of our current range of “off the peg” courses that support school improvement and social inclusion.

Our preferred format for our courses is to work in small groups where the best opportunities can be created for interactive working and responsive learning. This usually takes the form of 10 to 25 delegates per course in an informal environment, often at a stimulating, if unusual, venue!

In addition we are currently establishing Cocentra ‘ Learning Networks’. These are cost effective forums, often held within schools, for specific interest areas e.g. organisational culture/behaviour, ICT, Teaching and Learning. They provide an opportunity for individuals from small groups of schools to meet once every half term to receive development sessions on subjects they have selected; debate current issues for their school; and to discuss particular issues on a one to one basis with an experienced practitioner.
