LA Support
Complementary capacity and skills
Local Authorities remain a key part of the education and Children's Services infrastructure in England and Wales. In England particularly, LAs have seen their role rapidly evolve over the last few years without additional resources to make the change happen. This is at the same time that more funds are being sent directly to schools taking it out of LAs management.
Most LAs now have a merged Children's Services department which is seeking to balance the demands of education, social services and health. Many of these LAs are no longer able to offer all the services they would wish to schools and are seeking external support and partnerships.
Cocentra has been working with LAs in a number of ways in recent years, including the delivery of the DfES School's School Improvment Advisor initiative which involved working with 140 LAs in support of the schools facing challenging circumstances. We have also provided support within LAs as they reshape and prepare for their JARs. Capacity has been a key concern and here we have provided partnering/support services in CPD and advisory to schools.
Our Interim Management service has provide experience people to assignments in support of the changes in LAs enabling temporary vacancies and redundant positions to be filled until such time as they are no longer needed, and more importantly to provide additional skills and knowledge to manage the change!
